Math Toolbox Series
These classes meet regularly (usually weekly or twice a week) to go over a fundamental math skill.
Beginner Elementary Math Toolbox
For learners of any age working on K - 1 content. Topics include properties of shapes, counting forward and backward, skip counting, math facts, basic addition and subtraction, repeated addition and subtraction, simple adding and subtracting word problems, simple graphs, etc.
Intermediate Elementary Math Toolbox
For learners of any age working on grades 2 - 3 content. Topics include addition and subtraction with and without regrouping, math fact fluency, time, money, basic fractions, writing simple equations from work problems, etc.
Advanced Elementary Math Toolbox
For learners of any age working on grades 4 - 5 content. Topics include fraction operations, rounding and estimating, writing and solving equations, averages, percents, multi-digit operations with regrouping, etc.
Middle Math Toolbox
For learners of any age working on grades 6 - 8 content. Topics include fraction and decimal operations, estimation, the coordinate plane, organizing and using data, scientific notation, writing and solving multi-step equations, pre-algebra concepts, financial math, etc.
Math Facts Fluency
Learners of any age can benefit from becoming fluent with addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division fact families.
Semester Math Classes
Virtual, semester-long math classes are taught in a blended format, with a mix of live Zoom meetings, asynchronous assignments, video lessons, etc.
High-Interest Reading Series
High-Interest Stories for Reluctant Readers
In this highly-customizable class, which is available 1:1 or for small groups, students will be introduced to texts with simple reading vocabulary but a high-interest topic. This class can be tailored to your student's favorite topic. Basic sight word, decoding, and comprehension skills will be addressed in the context of your learner's area of interest.
Sight Word Reading Camp
In this five-day camp, learners will be introduced to a list of sight words in isolation, in phrases, in sentences, and in stories.
Augmentative and Alternative Communicator Classes
1:1 Tutoring for AAC Users
Highly-customizable tutoring sessions for learners who use Augmentative and Alternative Communication (LAMP: Words for Life, Proloquo2go, PECS, sign language, etc.). AAC tutoring is available in math, reading, language, learning skills, and as a prerequisite to joining the social group.
AAC-ceptance Club: A Social Group for Augmentative and Alternative Communicators
A weekly social group for students who use augmentative and alternative communication (LAMP: Words for Life, Proloquo2go, PECS, sign language, etc.) and who have attended 1:1 tutoring sessions to work on prerequisite skills.
Creative Writing Classes and Author Visits
For-Word March Creative Writing Club
Weekly or monthly writing group for kids with a strong interest in writing (flexible age but geared for middle and high school)
Summer Writing Retreat Retreat with a Published Author
Intensive week-long summer camp for serious writers aged 11 - 16. Writers will meet daily to take a project from inception to first draft and beyond.
Reluctant Writers Retreat
